Seeing as we had another follow up ultrasound yesterday and everything was good! The ultrasound people were very nice and confirmed that it is a girl.
They say it is a "faux pax" to let the name out for criticism. They say those closest to you will say things without thinking and hurt your feelings. Despite all these repeated warning we are throwing it out there. Some of the parental response was slow, but was very warmed up to after seeing it and saying it a few times.

Lindsey knew a Laken growing up, we have friends in MI who have a super cute/sweet little girl Lachan. So for us we have had contact with it and it isn't foreign.
Lakin- means found treasure. We changed the "i" to a "y" b/c we liked it and it also adds a Scottish flare (I am 1/4 Scotch.) Her initials are LAC like her momma and grandmomma. She will carry on the given middle name of Allison that Lindsey was given by her parents.
